Local manufacturer Gulmay contacted us in the summer to talk about making a film for their new German office soon to open. The founder of the company had just passed away and it was difficult time there, but as my own mother was at that time in the last throws of cancer, Sam the founder’s daughter and I had a lot common and I found working with the very family focussed company a real joy.
We were blessed with great weather on site in Germany and as the factory was sparkly and new we shot some really good material during the trip. My team and I have travelled widely in Europe with our gear. Although delicate kit and aircraft baggage handlers don’t necessarily go together, through care and experience we have not had any issues to date.
In the UK we spend an enjoyable couple of days in their manufacturing centre creating cinematic images of the gear being put together but the usual collection of experts and characters who often populate these kind of operations. I have to say – I love this kind of work. Thankfully the Gulmay crew love what we made for them and we are going back soon to create a corporate showreel and to celebrate the opening if their China office. Great to see them doing so well.
