Client and life inspiration Danny Lucas of Lucas Fit Out has a thing about litter, and so do I. Britain is the 3rd most littered nation in the developed world with a 500% increase in this generation. It is, literally., everywhere.

Most of you are probably like me and can’t recall ever dropping a single piece, which musty mean that for others littering has become a lifestyle.

Danny was so incensed he started https://littergram.co.uk/ – an app and reporting system to track littering hotspots and feedback issues to the relevant authorities. Sadly not all of them undertake their duty and bother to clean up.

One of the largest areas of concern are the motorway and A road networks. Danny asked me to spend a couple of days with a camera shooting litter to create a record of just how much there is out there. I covered motorway/A road interchanges, country roads and lengths of dual carriage way and I have to say, once you start looking the quantities are absolutely astonishing. On one road in Kent I found and shot 1400 items on a 3/4 mile stretch of A road. Multiply that by the nearly 30,000 miles of main road and 240,000 miles of all road in the UK and the size of the issue becomes clear. It’s Litter island.

Folks – take it home and bin it. How can we live like this?
