I (Stuart) am usually very close to the cameras and either filming, directing or editing. This role, producer of the 2021 Channel 4 Inclusion Festival, was a little different.

I worked with project leads GroovyGecko and their production partners Zest4TV who asked me to deal with all non-technical aspects of the production. It took over my life for a month and I spent hours visiting studios, examining covid regs, discussing options, designing sets and dragging the project from conception to existence in all it’s myriad details.  I also edited the pre-records and directed the studio recs as well.

You can watch the stream here . There was some really good, thoughtful discussion and interviewing and I learnt a great deal. C4 and in fact all the major broadcasters, are leading the way with their attitude and efforts towards including minorities and those with disabilities, and it is very encouraging to see.

Media are accused by some of leading the way down into salacious morals and the destruction of traditional values, but here is an example of a strong positive  direction that reflects the best of humanity and one with which I was proud to be involved.

There were many challenges and changes and many decisions had to be made on the run, but such is the nature of the live TV world and we got there in the end.
