A terrific new project for us. Danny Lucas, CEO of S Lucas Ltd, asked us to get involved with creating a series of YouTube instructional films about his company’s specialist subject of decorating. Danny’s team had built a undecorated interior set in then corner of one of their warehouses and the plan was to film master decorator and lifelong teacher Barry Mason demonstrating the many skills needed to fully decorate the various features.

I invested in a new set of cameras so each channel could be accurately matched. We live mixed each take through our Blackmagic system and also recorded each camera channel (iso) for finessing in post.

Barry proved to be a natural and there are now hundreds of followers and thousands of hits on each video, currently numbering about 60 episodes. Everyone on the crew

are now thoroughly expert in all things decorating, although tone honest, having tried to do some of the things off cameras that Barry made to look effortless on camera, I can confirm that its not actually as easy as it looks!

Check out the current selection of videos at the bespoke Lucas site for the Barry project:

One of the best things about the whole project are the lunchtimes. Close to the Lucas HQ in Wrotham is one of the last remaining ‘real’ transport cafes in the south east and the crew have become regulars. I can recommend Oakdene Cafe for those keen of old style food and terrifying staff. It really is an experience 🙂

We’ve had our million view video. Barry’s fabulous Tartan Paint is up to over 2 million views 🙂
