It’s not every day you get to photograph a tube carriage being delivered to a school in London!
Last week, we spent a day in Grove Park photographing the delivery of an underground train carriage. This was donated by TFL to Coopers Lane Primary School and was the last stage in a new and exciting journey for the carriage which is being turned into the school library.
The carriage was driven to the school for a craned delivery by Emersan Crane hire. No good deed goes unpunished however, as the proportion of truck to the local roads was considerable and quite a few issues arose!
As the preparations for lifting the carriage into the school continued, more and more people from the local area arrived to watch what was going on. There was a lot of excited spectators and a party atmosphere was created. It was really lovely to see and to be there documenting it all.
Careys Group, our client and a Construction and Resource Management Group, supervised the practical aspect of delivering the carriage. They also did the footings and groundwork. Mace were the project directors.
